Send them back to school, rhythm of change echoing through the hills. ‘Music for Advocacy’.

Inside-Out Community Ventures team members speaking to a full classroom of schoolchildren in Munyama

For too long, the classrooms in Munyama had been growing quieter. The number of school-going children was in a steady decline, replaced by a devastating reality: young girls being rushed into early marriages, their potential cut short before they ever had a chance to discover it. We knew we had to take the first step. Alongside the community, Inside-Out Community Ventures set out to reshape the narrative, encouraging parents and children alike to see education not as an expense, but as an invaluable investment.

The turning point came in July. A senior headman, carrying the weight of his community’s future, approached our team with an urgent plea:

"Please help us to deal with early marriage here. We want our children to finish school. We want the girls to continue with school instead of rushing into marriage."

We took his words to heart. Two months later, our advocacy campaigns were in full motion. We hit the ground running, engaging directly with local leaders, parents, and the young boys and girls whose futures hung in the balance. Then came the big day. On September 24, 2026, we launched "Music for Advocacy"—the very first music concert Munyama had ever seen.

We challenged local and upcoming artists to use their voices for a higher purpose, composing songs centered around a single, powerful theme: the importance of education. The energy was electric. Young talents stepped up, turning raw emotion and community struggle into powerful melodies.

While the competition winner walked away with K500 and an appreciation trophy, the true impact of his music went far beyond the prize money. His lyrics spoke directly to the hearts of the parents and youth standing in the crowd. In his closing remarks, the winning artist thanked the Inside-Out team for creating a platform where local talent could finally be recognized and celebrated.

This concert was a historic first for Munyama, but it is only the beginning. More is on the way. Looking ahead, we plan to engage with even more local artists, helping them grow their talents while amplifying the melodies of change. Through the universal language of music, we are turning the tide against early marriage, one note at a time.
